Challenge
WellSpan Health makes use of a legacy Nortel communications platform implemented many years ago. WellSpan did not have an IP communications strategy and were uncertain as to what to expect from the changes that Nortel was experiencing within their company, and through the merger with Avaya. WellSpan required a thorough IP voice readiness assessment to identify the changes required to bring their infrastructure to the level required to reliably and efficiently deliver real-time media and Unified Communications.
Action Taken
L7 assisted WellSpan in crafting a multi-phase plan to develop a high level system design, to write an RFP to a list of vendors of their choice, to provide comprehensive analysis of the RFP responses, and to guide WHS though a complex vendor selection process. Following the technical analysis, L7 also performed a business analysis of short-listed vendors as well as incorporated clinical input based on the results of stakeholder interviews.
Results
WellSpan now has a comprehensive High Level Design of the Telephony and UC systems that will be taken forward. It also has detailed information on each vendor that they are considering that will empower the WellSpan team to make a well informed strategic decision from technological, clinical and financial perspectives. L7 will continue design and consulting work with WellSpan’s vendor of choice to insure successful implementation.
